In Bollywood, usually it is the male or the female character that takes the lead. But there are some movies, in which it is the dog which becomes the crucial character.

Teri Meherbaniyan
Jackie Shroff starrer Teri Meherbaniyan, a 1985 film, showcased the role of a dog named Brownie, which takes the lead after its owner Ram (played by Jackie Shroff) passes away after being murdered. Brownie is the only witness in the case and it takes revenge of his master's death. The scene which shows Brownie sitting on Ram's grave in all-pain brought tears to the eyes of everyone who watched the film.
Hum Apke Hain Kaun
The credit goes to several factors for the huge success of musical romantic 1994 flick Hum Aapke Hain Kaun. One of them is Tuffy the dog, a white furry Pomeranian. The cute thing played a crucial role in film - from being an umpire during the cricket match to happily ending the love story of Prem and Nisha, played by Salman Khan and Madhuri Dixit, respectively.
Bol Radha Bol
The 1992 film Bol Radha Bol shows how a loyal and faithful dog named Moti doesn't retaliate when beaten up badly by his master Kishen Malhotra, played by Rishi Kapoor, in misunderstanding.
Chillar Party
 
Chillar Party, a 2001 film, has a national award to its name. A domestic help named Fatka lives in a society with his dog Bhidu. A politician orders to remove all stray dogs from Mumbai. A group of children then take their fight to rescue Bhidu on streets. The entire film revolves around the character &lsquoBhidu'.
