There are two types of Burmese cats - European Burmese and Contemporary Burmese. European Burmese has narrower & longer muzzle and narrow head while Contemporary Burmese has broader & shorter muzzles with round & broad head shape. Burmese cat body is athletic, muscular and solid. Their fur is velvety. Their body has compact look with rounded wedge-shaped head having strong lower jaw and chin. Their eyes are expressive & large and ears are medium sized tilt slightly forward and rounded at the tips. Their eyes have yellow or gold colour. Paw pads and nose leather is brown. There is difference in body weight of male & female cats, Burmese male cats&rsquo weighs 4 to 5 kgs while female cats weighs 3 to 4 kgs.

Normally Burmese cats are available in Brown (also known as Sable), Lilac, Chocolate, Blue, Red, Brown tortie, Lilac tortie, Blue tortie, Chocolate tortie, Red tortie, Cream tortie and Cream colour. Champion, blue and platinum are colours shades in which Burmese cats are also available.

Burmese cats are friendly and energetic. These cats are good in intelligence and like being with humans and human companionship. So a house with all jobbers is not good for this cat, where housemates can&rsquot devote a good time to their cat. It is not good to leave them alone. Better to have some more pets at home to not let the cat feel lonely. These cats are good with other cats & dogs and if you can get another Burmese cat, it will be wonderful for her. These cats are same curious as all cats are, they would like to get information about all of your household and knowing all nooks and crannies. Burmese cats are social, gentle, laid back and exceptionally sweet natured cats.

Burmese cat have short and satiny coat. Medium-blue coat is also found in Blue Burmese cats. &ldquoBrick wrapped in silk&rdquo is name given to Burmese cats as per their personality. Original Burmese cats were called sable and they had dark solid-brown color.

There is a long list of health problems from which Burmese cats suffer some of them are genetic problems or disease. Sensitive to anaesthesia and gingivitis are general problems in Burmese cats. Health issues of Burmese cats are Lipemia of the aqueous humor (transient milky appearance (eye)), Orofacial pain syndrome, Corneal dermoid (cornea hair and skin), craniofacial abnormality - Burmese head defect, Congenital peripheral vestibular disease, Flat-chested kitten syndrome, Hypokalemic polymyopathy (muscle weakness), Elbow osteoarthritis, Kinked tail, Dilated cardiomyopathy, Endocardial fibroelastosis (heart problem), Diabetes mellitus and enlarges heart problem - Dilated cardiomyopathy.

There is the long list already mentioned of health problems of this breed cat, so one should be very careful with them in grooming. Burmese cats calls for low maintenance. Regular stroking and petting is good help for removing loose hairs as per weekly grooming (essential for distributing skin oil and removal of dead hairs). Periodontal disease can be prevented by brushing the teeth. Dental hygiene, weekly brushing is necessary, nails, teeth, eyes of Burmese cat, all should be cleaned properly. For removing any kind of discharge, eyes should be cleaned with damp and soft cloth. Use separate cloth pieces for both of eyes for cleaning eyes of cat with very care because there are chances of infection too. Ears should be checked weekly and wiped out with soft damp cloth or soft cotton ball. Litter box should be spotlessly clean and bathroom hygiene is necessary.

Burmese cats have charming personality and soft & sweet voice. Their favourites are rolling over, waving and coming, sitting and learning to fetch toys. These cats like car rides and vet visits also. Keep in mind before buying Burmese cat that these cats can really cost your privacy only buy if you can compromise your privacy with a pet. These cats like to be involved in each and every activity done by their owner. Like reading newspaper, preparing meals, washing clothes, watching television or working at computer or laptop, Burmese cat will be your companion, clearly these cats are people oriented. These cats like to sleep on bed with their owner and play with pillow and their covers also. These cats are smart and playful.
